02 / APPLICATION-DRIVEN MATERIAL SELECTION

Explore materials by process.

Each pathway highlights candidate products and the practical variables that matter when evaluating grades or discussing a production trial.

APPLICATION 01 · CUTTING TOOL PRODUCTION

Diamond Tool Manufacturing

For manufacturers producing diamond segments, saw blades, core bits and other tools used on natural stone, concrete and construction materials. Selection depends on impact conditions, bond wear, diamond retention and the workpiece aggregate or mineral composition.

Relevant SinoDiam Materials
Discuss: stone or concrete type, tool geometry, cutting conditions, metal-bond formula, mesh size, desired wear and cutting balance. SinoDiam supplies diamond materials used to manufacture tools; this section is not a finished-blade catalog.
APPLICATION 02 · HARD / BRITTLE MATERIALS

Glass, Ceramics & Carbide Grinding

Grinding and shaping hard or brittle materials call for balancing removal rate, edge quality, subsurface damage and abrasive retention. Metal-bond and resin-bond diamond grades serve different tool designs and finishing requirements.

Relevant SinoDiam Materials
Discuss: carbide/ceramic/glass grade, grinding method, bond system, grit size, coolant, surface target and tool life objectives.
APPLICATION 03 · CONTROLLED SURFACE FINISH

Precision Lapping & Polishing

For optical glass, hard ceramics, precision components and other demanding surfaces, micron-scale particle selection and dispersion behavior can influence removal rate and finishing quality. Evaluate the entire formulation, not particle size alone.

Relevant SinoDiam Materials
Discuss: substrate, wet or dry process, slurry or paste carrier, micron range, allowable scratches, surface finish and material removal requirements.
APPLICATION 04 · WAFER-RELATED / ADVANCED SUBSTRATES

Semiconductor & Advanced Materials Processing

Diamond powders may be considered for specific hard-material grinding, wafer-related abrasive tooling, wire-saw formulations and sapphire or SiC processing. Requirements differ greatly by substrate and process stage; final suitability must be evaluated with the manufacturer.

Relevant SinoDiam Materials
Discuss: Si/SiC/sapphire or other substrate, process step, contamination controls, distribution/dispersion needs, tool construction and surface-quality acceptance criteria. This is abrasive-material supply—not semiconductor-device fabrication.
APPLICATION 05 · POLYCRYSTALLINE MATERIAL FEEDSTOCK

PCD/PDC Material Production

For producers evaluating diamond micron feedstock for polycrystalline structures and associated abrasive-tool processes. Material purity, particle packing, size distribution and the sintering formulation matter; feedstock is distinct from a finished PDC cutter.

Relevant SinoDiam Materials
Discuss: intended polycrystalline product, powder characteristics, contamination limits, densification process, particle-size distribution and target testing protocol.
APPLICATION 06 · GEOLOGICAL CUTTING ELEMENTS

Drilling, Mining & Geological Tools

For customers sourcing PDC cutting elements for oil and gas, geological exploration, mining and related drilling-tool designs. Cutter selection is determined by formation, impact and abrasion demands, geometry and mounting conditions.

Relevant SinoDiam Materials
Discuss: drilling formation, cutter geometry, diameter, diamond-layer requirements, impact conditions, tool design and anticipated order quantity. Technical details must be confirmed for the specific cutter.
APPLICATION 07 · FERROUS WORKPIECES

Hardened Steel & Ferrous Machining

CBN abrasives and PCBN cutting materials are candidates for selected iron-based workpieces, including hardened steels and cast irons. Their use differs from diamond abrasives in ferrous machining; match the material to the operation and tool design.

Relevant SinoDiam Materials
Discuss: workpiece alloy and hardness, grinding vs. turning, bond/tool configuration, coolant, cutting conditions and dimensional or surface finish targets.
03 / MATERIAL SELECTION GUIDE

Start with process conditions, not a grade code.

Two customers using the same workpiece may require different diamond grades because their bond systems, tool design or finishing targets differ.

1

Identify the workpiece: composition, hardness, brittleness and target geometry.

2

Define the operation: cutting, grinding, polishing, wire-saw production, sintering or drilling.

3

Match the abrasive system: bond type, grit or micron size, crystal properties, coating and tool construction.

4

Validate in the real process: compare finish, removal rate, tool wear and total process economics.

Material familyTypical evaluation focus
Saw Grit DiamondToughness, mesh, cutting load, segment and bond design
Metal Bond DiamondGrit retention, workpiece hardness, grinding duty
Resin Bond / RVDFriability, self-sharpening and surface finish
Micron DiamondSize distribution, purity, dispersion and polishing targets
Metallic-Coated DiamondCoating type, bonding compatibility and processing conditions
CBN / PCBNFerrous workpiece, tool/bond system and cutting regime
PCD / PDCComposite formulation, geometry, wear and impact conditions
This table is a selection framework, not a performance guarantee or a substitute for validating the material in your production process.
04 / MANUFACTURING & PROCESSING

Our production and material-processing activities help connect product selection with manufacturing realities and international supply needs.

ZHENGZHOU, CHINA

SinoDiam International

Operations in China cover industrial diamond product development, manufacturing and specialized material-processing activities, alongside technical communication and international supply.

Customers can discuss saw grit grades, bonded-abrasive materials, specialty diamond products and advanced superabrasives.

PATHUM THANI, THAILAND

Thaimond Superabrasives Co., Ltd.

The Thailand operation focuses on processing and production activities related to crushed diamond, micron diamond powders and selected coated diamond materials.

The two-country operating model provides additional options when evaluating manufacturing origin, product requirements and supply arrangements.

Actual country of manufacture, specifications and supporting documents depend on the individual product, process and order. Request confirmation for any specific origin or documentation requirement.
05 / TECHNICAL FAQ

Questions from material buyers and toolmakers.

These answers are starting points for technical evaluation; grade and formulation choices should be checked against your process conditions.

How do I choose between saw grit and micron diamond powder?

Saw grit typically serves coarser cutting and toolmaking applications, while micron diamond powders are generally considered for fine grinding, lapping, polishing and selected specialized feedstock processes. Start with the process and target particle size.

When should I consider metal-bond versus resin-bond diamond?

Bond systems influence abrasive retention and self-sharpening behavior. Metal-bond and resin-bond diamond grades are not interchangeable by default; consider the workpiece, grinding conditions and desired finish.

Why use CBN or PCBN on ferrous materials?

CBN abrasives and PCBN cutting materials are common candidates for selected hardened steels and other iron-based workpieces. Diamond materials often serve different workpiece/application combinations. Exact suitability depends on cutting regime and tool design.

Which products relate to semiconductor and sapphire processing?

SinoDiam lists SND-MAG, SND-MDW and selected micron grades for specific hard-material processing or diamond-wire toolmaking. Identify the actual substrate and operation; these products should not be confused with semiconductor electronic devices.

Is SND-M/PCD a finished PDC cutter?

No. SND-M/PCD is a specialized micron diamond powder intended for certain polycrystalline material or tooling formulations. Finished PDC cutters are a separate product category with geometry and application-specific requirements.

What should I include in a technical quotation request?

Include the workpiece material, manufacturing application, abrasive or bond system, target particle size or grade, estimated quantity, destination country and any critical performance or documentation requirements.
