05 / TECHNICAL SELECTION GUIDE

How to Select Crushed RVD Diamond Grit

Begin with the workpiece and the abrasive tool. Evaluate the particle characteristics together with mesh size, bond formulation and actual grinding conditions.

01

Identify the Workpiece

Specify marble, granite, quartzite, ceramic, glass, cemented carbide or another material. Include hardness, brittleness and surface requirements where available.

02

Define the Grinding Operation

Clarify whether the tool is used for stock removal, edge shaping, grinding, polishing or finishing. Include working pressure and required surface quality.

03

Match Grade, Mesh & Bond

Select a candidate grade and mesh fraction while reviewing resin formulation, abrasive concentration, grain exposure and bonding requirements.

04

Validate in the Finished Tool

Compare cutting action, removal rate, edge quality, surface finish, grinding force, abrasive wear and cost per finished component.

Why Mesh Size Matters

Coarser diamond grit may suit earlier grinding stages and greater material-removal requirements. Finer grit may be suitable for more controlled finishing operations. However, particle size alone does not guarantee a particular surface finish, removal rate or wheel life.

SND-G05: Confirmed available range of 80–500 mesh. Specify the individual mesh fraction and grading standard.

SND-G10 / SND-G15: Request the current grade-specific mesh list and particle-size distribution. Do not assume every grade shares the same size range.

06 / TOOL DESIGN

Bond Compatibility & Abrasive-Tool Development

Diamond abrasive performance depends on crystal properties, grain retention, bonding chemistry and the manufacturing process. Bond compatibility should be evaluated rather than assumed from the RVD designation alone.

Resin Bond

Primary application direction. SND-G crushed RVD grades are primarily positioned for resin-bond grinding, edging and polishing tools. Final suitability depends on the specific grade and resin formulation.

Electroplated Bond

Technical validation required. Grain shape, plating chemistry, nickel-layer retention, abrasive exposure and tool operating conditions must be evaluated before adoption.

Vitrified Bond

Technical validation required. Bond composition, firing temperature, diamond stability and abrasive retention must be reviewed for the intended tool design.
